Society

EEF is a charitable, non-profit making society founded in Bern, Switzerland, in 2002. The mission and abiding purpose of EEF is to promote opportunities for the education and training of disadvantaged children and young people regardless of their race, gender or religious beliefs. In doing so, the society supports innovative projects for vulnerable children and young people to alleviate their suffering and offer them the chance to build a better life for themselves.

Our Philosophy:

Developmental aid makes sense when the projects are small, sustainable and embedded in the societies concerned.

Local self-initiative is a basic condition for support of any kind. EEF operates projects that have clear aims and realistic targets. We do not champion projects that are unachievable, but see through projects that meet the demands of the needy.

Our donations do not end up in the hands of the greedy. Money is invested at the point where it is needed and in the past, EEF has stopped support of projects when it became apparent that corruption was involved.

Evaluation of our projects is central to our ability to provide the exact help needed. Monitoring project development on a regular basis is the only way to avoid misuse of donors’ money and ensure that the aims of the projects are fulfilled.

EEF is run in such a way that administrative costs are as low as possible thereby ensuring that as much of the donated money as possible is used to benefit the people in need directly.
